This sketch is the draft of a picture showing a seated couple. Closely embraced, a deep affection between two people becomes visible. The motif is derived from antiquity, when physical proximity was artistically depicted for the first time. The expression of this feeling was worked into the structured paper by the draftsman with the help of filigree graphite.
